THE RIALTO WAS UNIQUE
Ninety One Years Ago This Week
SIX CENTS FOR THE SATURDAY MATINEE !
A few years after this booklet was printed the Unique Theatre on South Ocean Ave in Patchogue became the Rialto Theatre. I saw umpteen movies there in the 1950's and '60s including, Song of The South, The Lone Ranger, Westward Ho The Wagons, Old Yeller, John Paul Jones, Curse Of Frankenstein, King Creole, X The Unknown, The Giant Behemoth, Al Capone, Journey To The Center Of The Earth....the last film I recall seeing there was The T.A.M.I. Show in 1965, which was a concert film with James Brown, The Beach Boys, Ronettes, Gerry & The Pace Makers, Jan & Dean and many more..... .
The Rialto went up in smoke in Feb of 1978 and was a total loss. It never was rebuilt and as far as I know has remained an empty lot.
