MASTIC KNAPP ESTATE STATION WAGONS

1917 Model T Ford Depot Hack

Claire Knapp, who could of drove any car she wanted , seemed to like the simplicity of the Model T for herself . She also had one or two for use on the Mastic estate. I would bet the flyboys of the air station there, rode to Patchogue for dances in one like this in 1917. And when Dode's mother Sylvia came to visit in the mid twenties, she probably rode from the train down to the estate in one like the photos below.

1920s Model T Depot Wagon

as the ad below shows it was a Model T that her brother Dode put up for sale in Mastic in 1934.

Wonder what it went for? probably about 100 dollars

Arthur Penney said he recalls seeing a Oldsmobile or Buick Station wagon at Knapps place during the 1930s. Seeing that both J P and Dode Knapp drove Buicks during that time, my bet there was a Buick woody much like this 1937 model there going back and forth from "the Beach" to the Mastic train staion.

Don't know if J P Knapp visited the Mastic estate in the 1930s or not, but if he did he would of arrived in something like this Buick.

Dode Knapp drove Buick Convertibles for his personal use through the late 30's and 40's in Florida and probably in Mastic too.
