Long before
the sale of Parr Meadows which was "way upton" there
was this
little transaction for some land
that went all the way to the south shore known as
"Mastic Meadows"
THE VERY FIRST DEED TO THE FUTURE

A SIMPLE TRANSACTION
There it is folks from the Brookhaven

Got to love the waye theye spelled
things back then. But then again it was The King's English. Wiandance
(Wyandanch) the Mentake Sachem (leader of the Montauk Tribe) gives
Richard Woodhull a lot of land (both dry and swampy) in exchange
for 20 Hatchets, Six Pairs of Stockings, 1 Troopers Coat (made
of Good Cloth) 20 Knifes, 1 Gun, 10 pounds of Powder (to shoot
in the gun) , 10 pounds of Lead (makes a lot of bullets) and other
neat stuff
And so most this land stayed in
the hands of The Woodhulls and heirs like the Floyds and their
families for 279 years when in May of 1926, deals were struck
between The Lawrence Family, August Floyd & Warren and Arthur
Smadbeck of Home Guardian Co.
