HOLY MOLY THEY ARE DIGGING HIM UP & BRINGING HIM BACK!!!!

Yes Your Eminence ..... Ken Spooner Told Me Dodi Knapp Stashed His Millions Right Here... Perhaps We Need To Dig Just A Little Deeper...

Father John P. Skelly June 1950

Ken Spooner has been digging deep in the backyard of the Knapp Mansion and estate that used to be located smack dab in middle of Mastic Beach from 1916 - 1959 for over 6 years now. His website "The Knapps Lived Here" has provided perhaps the most irreverent yet in depth look at Mastic Area History ever published. To date there have been over 70,000 visitors , a drop in the bucket for most popular websites on "The Internets" but certainly a lot more than the population of Mastic, Mastic Beach & Shirley combined back in the 1950's...

Last year on October 16th , 2005 the first sunny day after a 13 day record deluge, I appeared at the Mastic Moriches Shirley Community Library ...... No I didn't stop the rain .... but I did shoot the breeze & show some very rare photos for two hours with almost two hundred old & new friends and neighbors. And we had some great refreshments too (the cake alone was fantastic! ) all courtesy of the great hospitality of the friendly folks at the library.

This year the library is bringin' me back for an encore ...sort of....

"It's Like Deja Vu All Over Again " .... Yogi Berra

As I told Linda Knel at the library when she asked what will your program be this year ? " It will be a very different show about the same old thing...... "Mastic, Mastic Beach, (West) Moriches, Tangier & Early Shirley history. If you were there last year, I promise to have new photos and stories not to mention the revealing of the exact spot that the VERY FIRST Post Office in Mastic Beach was located !!! ... It was not where anyone thought it was....nor was the first postmaster Cornelius Vandenburg as has been published many times... "My God Does That Mean We Will Have To Rename Cornelius Drive? Plus I will be reading select excerpts from my forthcoming book "The Knapps Lived Here "...

Tall Tales, Stupendous Slides, and Fabulous Food all FREE !

Now if that's not enough to make you want to register for the show the library is offering .... I can do no more.... Hope to see you there.
